Thanks for the advice, Klaas. That's probably stopped me from rushing out and wasting money on something that won't work. I didn't know that the usual wheel size restrictions applied to the Evo too. At least there's a bit of flexibility on the ET. You've opted for a 16" solution (7.5J sounds nice), but did you find out during your investigations if 17"s are possible, or completely out of the question? I'd like to know all the possibilities before trying to decide what to do. The only other wheels I've actually seen 'in the metal' on an EVO were from a Delta Integrale, but I think they were 16". Looked good. They were on a tuned Evo, belonging to Rocket Ronnie and also for sale at BBC in Tienen - I think it was finally sold to Holland and put on the market for more money.
I'm really not sure about making it any lower - I heard so many stories about front spoilers being destroyed on speed bumps. Even now it almost scrapes when I take it out of my hangar and I also have quite a steep ramp into the parking of my apartment building. I don't really want to remove the bottom section - it looks so nice.
By the way, how do you find the TomTom? I don't have GPS in any of my cars but have seen a few systems working and am thinking about a portable one. I've heard different reports about TomToms - some say best thing ever, others that it just sends you into military areas full of unexploded shells (no joke - it was on the BBC), which can ruin your day. And your Alfa, of course, which is much worse.
fRank - thanks a lot for the link. The problem is that the Evo badge has a small 'e' at the end, which is different from the normal Turbos I've seen. Still, I'll ask and hopefully might get lucky.
Gtvco - thanks for clearing up the spoiler issue. I guess I'll have to live a lonely life as the only one who actually likes it.
I see there are some impressive Alfa collections out there, although I don't even dare to ask about the forthcoming "pimpmobiel". In the interests of transparency, I should also declare a 1750 Berlina ('70) and a Montreal ('71), converted to carbs because I left it too long and the dreaded Spica went into early retirement. Spica in Italy wanted over 4000 euros to rebuild it but wouldn't even give a guarantee it would work(!), a generous offer I was able to resist. A friend had developed a carb conversion for his own Monty, so I bought that. Much nicer. Neither of these are running at the moment but I aim to get them going for this summer.
Before leaving, I have to say that this is a very nice Forum set-up: very friendly and works really well, too. Congratulations.
