Can you guys give m your views as i am looking to buy a 1/43rd Alfa Romeo Montreal all and there are quite a few about and was wondering your views on what is the most detailed and best version to buy ie Minichamps, Looksmart, or some of the cheaper versions , i would ideally like one in orange, i did own one that was made by SMTS but long out of production by now, was thinking of the Minichamps one whats your best version and most like real thing ?

Hi Joe,

I have 60 Montreals and one 1:1 and must say: the most filigran is LookSmart + RGM, followed by Minichamps (with my plate No. !) and Edison. Fabbri's is well done for the small money, really. LookSmart + SMTS are for me similar. But with Minichamps you can't go wrong by the price. The orange of Minichamps is most original, BBR and all others have a colour what is a bit more far.

I agree with Hannelore. Have a look at this comparison. I did not (and still don't) have a Minichamps at that time so I cannot judge that one. The Looksmart is really a nice model but with some flaws (I think the one piece metal strips on the sides are disturbing, making the doors look barred) and the exhaust pipes are of a ridiculous diametre). Other details are great, like the headlight covers and the Alfa Romeo script and the license plate.
The DeAgostini Montreal (same as Edison Giocattoli) in my opinion offers the most value for money. Not as good as the Looksmart but certainly satisfactory.

Branca? Ja, dat is Portugees voor wit. Vrouwelijk, 'ze' heet tenslotte Giulietta, he... anders was het branco.

De rode Giulietta Berlina van Ixo (1956) heeft nu een wit zusje:



De kentekenplaten die er op zitten zijn Portugees. Waarom? Je zou zeggen dat dat een verwijzing is naar de geschiedenis, Ixo is voortgekomen uit Vitesse dat van origine Portugees was. Maar als je weet dat dit model bedoeld was voor een Portugese kiosk-reeks van Altaya-Planeta (parallel lopend aan de Spaanse kiosk-reeks) blijkt de reden wat minder idyllisch. De reeks is overigens na een paar uitgaven beëindigd, misschien omdat de belangstelling tegenviel.

Dat is de druppel! riep Graaf Ricotti...

Maar hij was niet boos. Hij beantwoordde slechts de vraag wat de ideale stroomlijnvorm was. En om dat te bewijzen liet hij carrosseriebouwer Castagna een uit aluminium geklopte druppelvormige carrosserie op het chassis van een A.L.F.A. 40/60 uit 1914 bouwen. Tests bewezen zijn gelijk. Met 139 km/h liep de MPV-avant-la-lettre 14 km/h sneller dan een 40/60 met standaard koetswerk.

Mevrouw Ricotti kon de hitte, stank en herrie in de auto nauwelijks verdragen en omdat Ricotti tevreden was met het bereiken van zijn doel liet al snel hij de auto ombouwen tot 'torpedo', de naam voor grote open meerpersoons auto's. De auto die in het Alfa museum in Arese staat is een replica.

En zojuist viel met een bescheiden plofje een bubble-envelopje op de deurmat. Post uit Amerika! Vorige week ontdekte ik de relatief zeldzame Ricotti uit de Kindersurprise eieren van Ferrero op eBay, met een nu-kopen optie. Stond al erg lang op mijn wensenlijstje. En terwijl ik al her en der begon te tikken en klikken om te betalen ontdekte ik via 'andere objecten van de aanbieder' dat de open versie er ook nog was! Nooit eerder gezien. Klik! Hebbes. Op dit moment heeft de aanbieder er nog twee....



Als twee druppels wa.... nou nee, dat nou ook weer niet






Het is maar net van welke kant je het bekijkt.




Enige karikaturale trekjes kunnen de modelletjes niet ontzegd worden.




Staat wel even mooi op 'rubberen' bandjes!




Mooie bijnaam voor een druppelvormige auto: 'Splash Coupé'.




Het is ongelooflijk wat Kindersurprise allemaal in zo'n eitje weet te verstoppen. Montage is 'Kinder'spel.

I agree with ANY of your purchases as long as you buy models that YOU like. In this topic I comment on models (accurate or ugly, value for money or not, etc., etc.) but you still have to make your own choice because only you know what is decisive for you to like a model or not. My comments (and from others) here might help you to make a choice but I do not give an advise.

like dinkyboy says - what ever you like will be right decision. For me the cheap ones are mostly the most interesting when I look in my vitrinas with nearly 1200 alfas. Specially with the Montreals I love the old ones too like Mercury or Norev + Intercars. Very nice for me is also my golden one from Hobby Clasic (Slot 1:32) or the "lost-much-golden-paint" Monti from Corgi in 1:64 what I have with full race track. But my favorite love is the little no-name pink plastic Monti in 1:64 (?).

Maybe it would be interesting to wait until M4 put the new edition on market where also Montreals are offered. A wonderful great look has BBR yellow race Montreal No. 25 "Bobcor". Green No. 64 what you like is also very interesting, when you want a race Monti and: it's much cheaper than BBR. The green No. 64 I like so much because I saw it in old days original running on race track with Dieter Gleich. His photo with signature is still hanging in our entry on the wall ))))

Finally= Every model you buy must be your favorite, cheap or expensive would be never a question for me - but my eyes and heart beat when I see any mini Alfa what calls :
"buy me" !

Heeft iemand meer info, en is dit daadwerkelijk het duurste model van een Alfa Romeo?

Duur ja, maar niet het duurste. Er is een man die volledig met de hand diverse 1:8 auto's bouwt uit het niets, die hij verkoopt. Daaronder enkele 30-er jaren Alfa's. Die zijn volgens mij nog fors duurders, al weer ik de prijzen niet precies meer uit mijn hoofd. Ik kan helaas de website zo snel niet meer vinden.

Gamma-dochter Klaxon presenteert een aantal modellen van de 6c 2500. In feite kan je helemaal niet spreken van 'de' 6c 2500 want hij is er in vele varianten. O.a. Pinin Farina (toen nog los van elkaar geschreven) en Touring voorzagen de chassis van zeer uiteenlopende carrosserieën en daarbij waren er tussen de exemplaren van hetzelfde type onderling ook nog eens kleine en grote verschillen.

Dat maakt het wat lastig om te beoordelen of de modellen correct verkleind zijn. De welvingen in de spatschermen zijn niet op alle auto's hetzelfde, net als de positie (en het aantal) van de koplampen, de breedte van de grille, de bumpers, etc. Van de SS Aerlux uit 1947 (SS voor Super Sport), zo genoemd vanwege het plexiglazen dak, vond ik drie voorbeelden. Elk anders en geen enkele identiek aan het model. Wat wel te beoordelen valt is de totaalindruk en eerlijk gezegd sta ik niet bepaald te stuiteren van enthousiasme over het model. De prijzen, € 45 voor een kit en € 180 voor een gemonteerd model, spelen daarbij natuurlijk mee. Het is natuurlijk arbeidsintensieve handbouw in een kleine oplage, de prijs is op zich wel gerechtvaardigd.

Toch ga je er anders naar kijken als je ziet wat diecast producenten voor een veel lager bedrag aanbieden, zoals (om in 6c 2500 sferen te blijven) de Freccia d'Oro van Minichamps, de Villa d'Este van Fabbri, en de vierpersoons Pinin Farina cabriolet van Altaya. Zo kijk ik er in ieder geval tegenaan, er zullen ook verzamelaars zijn die tekortkomingen met gemak accepteren omdat het feit dat het handbouw is voor hen een pré is. Als je dan uit bent op een specifiek type, zoals deze Aerlux, is de Klaxon zonder meer welkom.
