Sorry Hans, I have to correct your statement: the EE registrations did exist in Italy since 1929, meant "Escursionisti Esteri" and were temporary registrations for foreigners.
Mooi detail: niet alleen kunnen zoals te verwachten viel deuren en motorkap open, plus de achterruit, maar ook de louvres voor de koplampen kunnen wegklappen. De afdekking van de bagageruimte is wegklapbaar.
Het model heeft een EE-kenteken. Die tweelettercode (zoals MI voor Milaan, TO voor Turijn/Torino) heet 'sigla provinciale' of ook wel 'sigla automobilistica''. Dat systeem verviel in 1994. 'EE' is een niet bestaande code, Alfa gebruikte dergelijke platen voor publiciteitsfoto's.

It also mentions the Alfa use of picturing the catalogue cars with such regs:
"In primo luogo ci sono delle sequenze presumibilmente attribuibili a Milano: era uso che le foto di catalogo
delle vetture Alfa Romeo portassero la targa EE che, apparentemente, sembra autentica anche se non si
capisce per quale ragione l’Alfa fosse nelle condizioni di legge perché le fossero assegnate; tra l’altro nelle
fotografie non si vede quasi mai presente sulla targa il talloncino rosso che ne indica la scadenza.
Queste targhe, di cui mi sono note un buon numero, a giudicare dai modelli che le portano sono nelle
sequenze da EE 15000 a EE 20000 degli anni ’60, EE 32-33xxx del 1968 e EE 57xxx, databile 1972."
