1985 GTV 2,0 Turbo project..

Been working on a little project for some time, and finally found this forum. I have a 1985 GTV (original 2,0 carburettor) that i bought from a friend a few months ago. He bought a 2,0 turbo engine from italy 2 years ago, and tried to get it to work, but had no luck and ran out of money. The engine is a 2,0 with standard cylinderhead and standard block. When i bought it he had left the car for the winter without antifreeze so the cylinderhead was cracked into pieces and the cylinders full of water.. Had to rebuild it with new parts, and last week it was finally finished When the engine came from italy it had all accecories from 1,8 turbo, but no ECU´s or harness. Bought this from netherlands and started to work on the spagetti. After hours of reading diagrams and hours in the workshop i finally got it started!

Hi Haavard, nice to see some progress!!!
What kind of camshafts are in the engine?
At idle it seems that there is one cilinder that doesnt function very properly. Did you check this by a balance test or so?
One by one disconnect the plugs or the injectors to find out. (did you clean the injectors?)
What type of plugs do you run?
Did you also check for vacuum leaks (easaly done by brake cleaner or something simular)

You dont have to chip it, its already done!! If the Lancia is a 8V them you must be able to be almost as fast as it with the GTV!!!
Be carefull with driving high speeds, connect some kind of check light to the system to see if the engine is detonating!!

Nice project you have there. On the second day it's getting starting to sound better!

You should really get a custom ecu chip for it, should solve all of your idling and running problems.

Or ditch the original system and go aftermarket! there is a lot to be gained by that.

i noticed that you haven't put in a rollcage. with this kind of power your bodyshell will probably crack within time, and destroy the nice paintwork, i have a cage ,and even than some spots cracked and began to rust

Thats correct, but im just going to finnish the car as nice and original inside as possible. I have to advertice all my project cars for sale and see which one of them i can sell. Need some capital...
My fiance is pregnant, so i need to think about other than 5-6 cars all day

Cars in Norway is very exphensive and i have too many right now.. Have cars for well over 100000 euros and need some of them to build a new house and workshop.

Hmmm.... maybe i should sell the fiance instead??
