Beste clubleden,
Ipv nieuws over de nog steeds niet gepubliceerde luchtfoto´s van de hug, we zijn benieuwd of die er daadwerkelijk zijn en nog komen...... hebben we vandaag, na eerst een vage mail over foto´s van een fotograaf vanuit de organisatie, en publicatie van ons commentaar op het Alfisti forum doorgekregen van Alfisti.com dat de website per 18 juli a.s. wordt gesloten!
Blijkbaar is het afgegeven commentaar op de centennial met achtergrond informatie op het Alfisti forum teveel voor de organisatie geworden, die tot nu toe alleen een zakelijk niets zeggend ´verslagje´ over het evenement heeft gepubliceerd. De organisatie blijft ons verbazen. Daarom nu ook hier ons commentaar over de centennial geplaatst als niet BLR deelnemer aan dit evenement:
"Dear Afisti,
We as a couple have been at the centenary from Friday up to the Sunday program and that´s really all we can say about it positively, referring to the comments made by many others already.
The first time we heard about the celebration, as long time members of the Dutch AROC, SCARB, we immediately wanted to be part of it. Hearing and reading about previous events in Italy for many years, like the Milia Miglia, we could only imagine a passionate event in the make. A country famous for it´s people with passion for cars, making beautiful cars with Alfa Romeo as a great icon!
So, a 100 years celebration of Alfa Romeo, we could only imagine it to be special and great!
We should have known better after reading about the ´preparations´ and unclear communications leaving even the clubs out! Very last minute there was some kind of ´final´ program and as it turns out now, with no backing of the brand itself. We expected the organisation to be a bit unorganized, but an insure feeling about how the event would turn out to be grew stronger.
On arrival we planned to go to the Arese museum (first time there, finally after so many years!). Even though the volunteers did their best, the promise that there were e.g. going to be special guided tours was not met. Also special cars were at other events around the world sending out the clear message that the celebration of 100 years Alfa in Milano, was not thát important. A feeling of disappointment grew further.
The suggestion to visit another exhibition, the 100 X 100, was good. The exhibition was great. But although suggested that this exhibition was part of the event, it turned out to be a separate exhibition organised by a local club and had to be paid separate! This part of information was of course not mentioned.
The event itself was a joke and insulting to us and as, to it seems, many alfisti who have come over to celebrate a, what we thought to be, very special occasion. Not even the directors of Fiat were present at the event, no opening speeches with thanks to all those loyal Alfisiti who had come from all over the world to celebrate, nothing! Again displaying the message loud and clear; this celebration is not important. Leaving us behind with a feeling of being foolish to think Fiat is proud of there brand existing 100 years.
In Milano itself it seemed people did not really bother or even knew about the event. We have not seen any promotions in the city like banners for example. Fiat turned her back to her loyalists clients. So why we wondered, did Fiat display there newest model in the city? What is Fiat expecting?
Reading Il Fusi about the broken promises by Fiat with protesters during the event, it maybe was understandable that Fiat chose to stay away from the event.
Milano was not breathing Alfa Romeo, could it be due to the broken promises of Fiat? Sure. But also, what can you expect with Mercedes merchandising their brand in a large shop in the heard of the fashion city right in the middle of the most exclusive Galleria in the world, the Alfonso Galleria. No Alfa Romeo shop there, we only found some Alfa car models and pens in a few other shops. Disappointing.
Having driven Alfa from the last 33 model, also driven RWD oldies and still enjoying a GT Junior, to a 156 diesel, we are alfisti in heart and soul. Alfa Romeo has been able, with Fiat, to come back with better made FWD models like the 155, 156 (even car of the year!) and now the great 159 series, with for sure our next car, the Spider. We find the Spider together with the 8C modern classic icons, impossible to improve in design! So, what is the goal of Fiat, we wonder.
Since cleaner motoring is the future, but only new and very dull brands are offering hybrid and other alternative motoring. The future for Alfa could be in the forefront of that, filling in the gap for ´cuoro sportivo´ designs and clean motoring. This should give a bright future to Alfa with it´s great history to build on.
However, from the many comments on this forum combined with the attitude of Fiat towards the ´celebration´, we feel, that the event may have been the beginning of the end of the brand after making 100 years of automotive history. That would be a shame.
Hopefully this will not happen and is Alfa going to be saved by people with vision on what the brand is all about and what Alfa can become, as has happened with Saab. Building further on a core of customers and admirers.
Unfortunately Fiat did not see and embrace the opportunities available to them with the 100 year celebration. Instead Fiat chose to disappoint and insult the thousands of Alfisiti and to deliver, through it´s contractors, a failed event. We therefore agree with the people to claim a refund in order to let the organisation responsible know that what happened, despite all the good things around it done by others, is not acceptable. In the end, unfortunately, is the saying ´money talks´ true. Especially in, to it seems, a money driven occasion. We therefore will put in a claim and if needed will have the credit card company refund because of a so called ´default product´.
We are however very positive on the initiative to organise a great event for 2015 to celebrate a 100 years AR with the right passion and organisation! We think the best location would be a historical ground for AR, what better than MONZA. There should be all the space needed and enough opportunities for driving, Italian food, lifestyle and merchandising. A kind of MONZA ´Festival of Speed´.
We are open for suggestions to support this.

Wanneer we de luchtopnamen kunnen verwachten? Misschien bij SBS6, in 'De 25 slechtst georganiseerde evenementen'...
Dat de site wordt opgeheven ligt voor de hand. Als er geen budget is om het evenement fatsoenlijk te organiseren is er ook geen geld om een site in de lucht te houden. Pijnlijker is dat op alle kritiek geen enkele reactie komt.Dear Alfisti,

De 25 slechtst georganiseerde evenementen
Zullen we ooit weten wat er zich precies afgespeeld heeft? Er zijn vele meningen geplaatst, en die zijn natuurlijk persoonsgebonden. Ook vanuit Alfa kan ik me best een verhaal indenken waarom dit zo gelopen is.
Vanaf het begin is het een raar verhaal geweest. Eerst een herdenking op 24 juni. Toen een groot feest in het weekend, maar in feite niet door Alfa georganiseerd.
Wat het ook allemaal is, ik heb me uitstekend vermaakt tijdens onze 9 daagse reis met de 166 club. Netto is iedereen van de BLR ook hevig tevreden. En daar gaat het uiteindelijk om.

HIER een link naar een Alfaforum in Hong Kong, met diverse foto's van het Centenario. Sommigen zullen zichzelf herkennen.
Zo.. als ik de foto's van de helicopter zie zijn er op zondag niet veel mensen komen opdagen... Ik moet toegeven dat ik ook een van de velen was die op de zondag niet meer naar Milaan gereden is. Na het file rijden op de zaterdag en het bakken en braden op de parking bij 35 graden, al zoekend naar een fatsoenlijke plaats om een bak koffie te drinken om de middag door te komen, had ik echt geen zin meer in de zondag.De buitenland rit was top, de organisatie van de MAC group niet, laat ik het daar maar op houden..

Voor de liefhebbers zeker de moeite waard om even naar de kiosk te gaan

Die autovisie ligt hier inderdaad ook al op tafel - en nog niemand thuis 
om samen te genieten van de mooie plaat op de middenpagina waar onze Spider heel erg mooi prominent opstaat 
(weten we tenminste ook weer waarom we er ook al weer voor gezorgd hadden dat de voorkant er weer spik en span uitziet ).

en er begint bij mij ook een kwartje te vallen over die witte drie-serie die vrijdag tussen ons inreed en deed alsof hij erbij hoorde - DAT waren ze. Ook weer opgelost...
