Normaal gezien zou dit me hoopvol stemmen

TCR news meldt:
V-Action to race Alfa Romeo Giulietta cars
The V-Action Racing Team announced that it will field two Romeo Ferraris-built Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR cars during the 2018 season.
Following nine successful years in the Abarth Trophy, the Italian team is now considering programmes in the TCR Europe and the TCR Italy.
Team Manager Daniele Vernuccio explained: “I am pleased to continue our cooperation with Romeo Ferraris. We are currently working on finalizing a programme, either in Europe or in Italy, with professional drivers who are also experienced in Touring Car racing. Our goal is to be competitive from the very beginning and fight for the title. We are proud of racing Alfa Romeo cars and we dream of reviving the success the brand enjoyed in the past."

The TCR Balance of Performance test took place on 14-15 febr. at Valencia’s Circuito Ricardo Tormo, where TCR and FIA technical staffs worked together for the first time. The eleven brands represented appointed their own test drivers to set up the cars before the official TCR testers Daniel Lloyd and Gianni Morbidelli took over to go through the BoP programme.
The list of test drivers includes: Mario Ferraris in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Rahel Frey in the Audi RS3 LMS, Josh Files and Esteban Guerrieri in the Honda Civic 2017 and 2018 cars, Gabriele Tarquini in the Hyundai i30 N, Mike Halder in the KIA C’eed, Mikhail Grachev in the LADA Vesta, Alexander Heil in the Opel Astra, Aurélien Comte in the Peugeot 308, Franjo Kovac and Alex Morgan in the Renault Mégane, Jordi Gené in the SEAT León and Dieter Depping in the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
After all cars went through the scrutineering, the programme was equally split between track testing, checks of the centre of gravity and on the rollers of the BAPRO dynamometer bench. All cars are running on the minimum weight of 1265 kilograms, including the driver.
The results of the test will be unveiled by mid March and they will dictate the BoP for all the TCR series worldwide including the new WTCR

Fabrizio Giovanardi returned to being behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo after more than ten years, although just for a test with the Romeo Ferraris-built Giulietta TCR at Monza this week.

The Italian drove for two afternoons, as Gianni Morbidelli and Kevin Gleason took driving duties in the morning on the first and second day respectively.

“It was a very interesting couple of days,” said the Italian to TouringCarTimes. “It felt good to get a taste of the Giulietta TCR, especially getting back in an Alfa Romeo after all these years.”

Although the car felt good, Giovanardi’s lack of experience with TCR cars does not allow him to assess where they are compared to the opposition.

“We were able to improve the car step-by-step, which was encouraging and enjoyable at the same time. Monza is obviously a very peculiar track and it’s not easy to draw conclusions from what I’ve been able to see. Due to my lack of experience with TCR cars I can’t really say what the potential of the car is, but it felt quite good.”

Although several fans were excited with the prospect of a reunion between Giovanardi and the Italian brand, “Piedone” advised everyone not to get too carried away.

“Like I said, I understand the fascination for the fans of the Alfa Romeo-Giovanardi pairing, but at the moment I can’t confirm anything other than I have enjoyed these two days with the team and with the car. We will see what the future brings.”

en TCR UK meldt:

DPE MOTORSPORT to enter 2 ALFA ROMEO cars
Scottish-based DPE Motorsport has announced that it will enter two Romeo Ferraris-built Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR cars in the 2018 TCR UK championship. The team has secured the services of Aiden Moffat to lead its bid for the TCR UK title, while Derek Palmer Jr will drive the second car. It’s also hoped that a third Giulietta can be added to the operation during the year.
21-year old Moffat is no stranger to UK Touring Car fans, having become the BTCC’s youngest-ever driver at the age of 16, scoring his first podium finish at Knockhill in 2015 and then winning his first BTCC race at Donington Park in 2017, repeating that result at Brands Hatch later in the season.
31-year old Palmer Jr has competed in Dutch Supercars, FIA European GT and British GT before joining the BTCC in 2015. In 2017, Palmer competed in the HSCC Super Touring Car Trophy and picked up two wins in a Nissan Primera.
Team Manager, Derek Palmer Sr, has extensive experience of national and international motorsport at all levels including F1. He commented: “Any petrolhead loves Alfa Romeos and it fulfills a personal ambition of mine to run two of these fantastic cars with two brilliant young drivers in the British arm of the world’s top Touring Car series.”
Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager Michela Cerruti added: “We are happy to start a collaboration with DPE Motorsport. Since we made the first tests in the UK at the end of last year, we have found a lot of interest and passion towards the Alfa Romeo brand and our Giulietta TCR. We will support the team and the drivers as much as we can in order to achieve great results.”

Morbidelli tested a Romeo Ferraris-built Giulietta alongside Giovanardi - who was announced on Monday as the Team Mulsanne-badged squad's first driver - and 2017 WTCC driver Kevin Gleason at Monza earlier this month.

The 50-year-old has now been confirmed as the team's second driver for 2018.

Morbidelli, who previously drove Alfa machinery in the WTCC in 2006, said: “I am happy and honoured to be back at the top level of world's touring car racing, and to do it with an Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR by Romeo Ferraris, sporting the logo of such a prestigious brand.

"It will be a championship with many great teams and drivers, and this makes the challenge even more exciting. I wish to thank Team Mulsanne for their trust and for giving me this great opportunity."
