Alfa Romeo’s rich history remembered. As ever, a wonderful collection of Alfas will come to Goodwood, many from Alfa Romeo’s museum collection in Italy. Highlights include:
1924 Alfa Romeo P2 – now running for the first time in decades, the first great Alfa Romeo Grand Prix racing car, which was a dominant force in the 1920s, will drive at the Festival. It is the only survivor of its precise type in the world.
1923 Alfa Romeo RL ‘Targa Florio’ – adapted from the production road car, this fine-handling sports version won the Targa Florio outright in 1923
1932 Alfa Romeo 8C Monza – a beautifully original example of Alfa’s classic racer, which was raced on the Targa Florio in 1931
1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B (P3) – The archetypal pre-war racer, and the world’s first successful centre-line single-seater, in which Tazio Nuvolari drove perhaps his finest race at the Nürburgring in 1935
1935 Alfa Romeo 8C-35 – Magnificent and rarely-seen ex-Tazio Nuvolari GP car, which carried the fight to the all-conquering German ‘Silver Arrows’
1938 Alfa Romeo 308C – rare evolution of the 8C-35, which formed the basis of the post-war ‘Alfetta’
1951 Alfa Romeo 159 ‘Alfetta’ – the dominant GP car in the early post-war years
1965 Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA – works driver Jochen Rindt won the first ever TransAm race at Sebring in this car
1972 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 TT3 – Alfa's Autodelta works team took 2nd and 3rd overall on the Targa Florio in these fabulous cars in 1972
1975 Alfa Romeo 33 TT 12 – wonderful championship sports car like that in which Nino Vaccarella and Arturo Merzario (who will both appear at the Festival) won the penultimate Targa Florio

Dit is voorlopig bevestigd, met 3 GB aan SD-disc's zal ik dit en al het andere moois vastleggen. :driving:
Damn, july is nog zover weg..........................................................

The 100th Anniversary of the first Targa Florio: Count Vincenzo Florio’s idea for a madcap race around the streets of Sicily created one of motor sport’s most evocative and enduring contests, with thundering sports-prototype cars careering along tortuous grafitti-covered roads and small-town piazzas lined with fanatically enthusiastic race fans. The event was staged more than 50 times, with the last World Championship round in 1973 and the last race a few years later in 1977. Such was its renown that an annual retrospective event developed a few short years after the main event stopped. At the Festival Targa Florio legends Nino Vaccarella, Arturo Merzario, Vic Elford, Jacky Ickx and Gijs van Lennep will drive the cars with which they are synonymous. Among the cars taking to the hill will be Itala, Fiat and Ballot cars from the earliest events; evocative pre-war icons such as the Alfa Romeo RL and Bugatti Type 35; 1950s classics such as the Lancia D24, Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and Porsche 550A Spyder; plus the famous Porsche 908/3 and 911 RSR, as well as the Alfa Romeo 33 TT 12, that dominated the latter events.
